SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER JOHN POSTON ENDORSES JOHNNY VAUGHT, CANDIDATE FOR HORRY COUNTY COUNCIL DISTRICT 8

Johnny Vaught for Horry County CouncilConway – Johnny Vaught, candidate for Horry County Council district 8, received the endorsement from Horry County School Board Member John Poston today.

“County government and the school board are two unique governmental bodies which handle different matters entirely, but there exist a lot of opportunities for cooperation between us. Looking at the race for county council, I believe Johnny Vaught can work well with us. He has the public’s interest at heart and I wholeheartedly support him in his bid for county council.”

“He understands that many of the issues that face our community all tie together in one way or another. For instance, without good jobs here, our best and brightest move elsewhere. Without enough jobs here, crime increases. All issues are not isolated. His life experience and his continuous study of county council meetings make him the best candidate for the job.”

In response to John Poston’s endorsement, Johnny Vaught said the following: “Working together cooperatively allows all in Horry County to tackle the tough issues we face and seize our future here. I thank John for his endorsement and look forward to working with him on the issues facing Horry County. Between road development, crime, job creation and other challenges, we need to roll up our sleeves and get to work.”

With Election Day on June 10, Johnny Vaught states that he “has personally knocked on over 1500 doors since the beginning of this race and will continue do so up until Election Day. It is important that citizens of district 8 and I thoroughly vet the issues together so I can adequately represent them.”

Johnny Vaught is the current Vice President of the Horry County Higher Education Commission and a member of the Waccamaw Sertoma Club. He is also president of the Atlantic Center POA. He is a former engineering professor at Horry Georgetown Technical College and past board member of the Conway Chamber of Commerce. A member of First United Methodist Church and classic car enthusiast, Vaught lives in Conway with his wife, Margaret Ann, and children, Jonathan, Jeremy, Emily and John Kelly.
