Local Leaders Support Johnny Vaught for Horry County Council

Conway – Today, Johnny Vaught, candidate for Horry County Council District 8 announced a number of endorsements he has received from leaders in and around District 8. Vaught had this to say… “I’m humbled to have the support of local state leaders like Heather Ammons Crawford and Kevin Hardee both of whom represent portions of District 8. I’m also honored to have received the endorsement of District 8’s resident school board member, John Poston. I know that by working in concert with these local leaders and others we’ll be able to enhance the quality of life for residents in District 8.”

Resident school board member, John Poston commented: “I believe Johnny Vaught is the right candidate for District 8. Johnny understands our district, our county, and our community. I have supported Johnny’s candidacy from his first announcement, and will be at the Coastal Carolina Precinct on Tuesday November 4th to elect him to the Horry County Council.”

Rep. Heather Ammons Crawford said “Johnny Vaught has been involved in District 8 for quite some time now, I think he has a firm grasp of the issues, genuinely cares about the community and will serve our county well. I’m optimistic about his candidacy and believe he’s the perfect fit for District 8.”

Rep. Kevin Hardee followed by saying “Johnny Vaught was my instructor, when I was a student at HGTC, in 1986. He was a great teacher, and he will be a great county councilman for the citizens of District 8. He has my full support.”

John Poston is District 8’s resident school board member, which includes East Conway, the Highway 501 and 544 corridors and Forestbrook. Heather Ammons Crawford represents the greater Socastee area, Forestbrook and portions of East Conway in the SC House of Representatives and Kevin Hardee, who also represents portions of East Conway, portions of the City of Conway and the Loris area also in the SC House of Representatives.

Johnny Vaught is the current Vice President of the Horry County Higher Education Commission and a member of the Waccamaw Sertoma Club. He is also president of the Atlantic Center POA and the Hut Bible Class. He is a former engineering professor and Department Head at Horry Georgetown Technical College and past President of both the Conway Chamber of Commerce and Waccamaw Sertoma. A member of First United Methodist Church and classic car enthusiast, Vaught lives in Conway with his wife, Margaret Ann, and children, Jonathan, Jeremy, Emily and John Kelly.
